Bundoran RNLI have advised people to “stay away” as the search resumes.
The 28-year-old man – understood to be a member of the Defence Forces – got into difficulty while swimming in the sea off Tullan Strand, near Bundoran on Tuesday evening.
The Bundoran RNLI, the Killybegs rescue boat and the Coast Guard helicopter based in Sligo are involved in the search. We were on the scene very quickly and commenced the search.
Philip McGlynn, manager of the Great Northern Hotel overlooking the scene, said: “The word is the soldiers were in Finner for a week training and they went for a swim during a break”.

A lifeboat spokesman said his crew were searching for one missing person. The search will concentrate on Tullan Strand as that the last place that the man was seen, it will be broadened to a wider area as the tides change, said Mr Smith.
