According to the report, the study was carried out by the organization, Open Access journal eLife, in which the researchers found a strong evidence of an aquatic fly larva from the mid-Jurassic era that they took from three perfectly-preserved fossils.
Researchers gave this creature a name, quiyia jurassica, in which ‘quiyia’ means ‘bizarre’ in Chinese.
The researchers also explained that this two centimeter long ‘bizarre’ creature consisted of an enormous sucking plate that would allow it to stick to giant salamanders and suck their blood.
