Researchers Highlight on Brain Progression from MCI to Alzheimer’s Disease

MINISTERS are taking up the battle against Alzheimer’s disease with a “Care for your Brain” campaign, promoting exercise and healthy eating as ways of reducing the risk of dementia.

“We are very proud of our school and would like to thank all those involved for supporting the initiative and for the positive impact this is having on our children, and those affected by dementia in our community”.

People with dementia are one of the most vulnerable groups in society and this training programme will reinforce and equip telephone fundraisers with the vital awareness and skills required when speaking to people living with the condition. Until recently dementia was seen as a disease largely independent of lifestyle.

In an open letter before the walk, Donna said spoke of how her grandpa Joe had been affected by dementia. It is designed to ensure that telephone fundraisers recognise vulnerability in people they call and handle contact with individuals in a way that is sensitive to their individual needs.

Come out and support the annual Alzheimer’s and Dementia Society 3K walk, poker run and health fair Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.in Tonaquint Park, 1851 S. Dixie Drive, in St. George.

While this might sound like bad news to some, researchers at Belleville believe it to be a blessing – touting it to be a great way to catch the symptoms of the ailment early and slow down its progression.
