Resident Evil 2 Remake Officially Announced
“We’re pleased to confirm that Resident Evil 2 has been approved for development”, a Capcom representative said in a statement provided to VideoGamer.com today.

Details are extremely slim at the moment, but the title was confirmed to be in the early development cycles with no other information revealed on the remake.
The remake is being lead by Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the same producer behind the Resident Evil HD. It sounds like your typical Resident Evil setup, although we have to wonder how it will translate into a stage play. Nor is there a release date pencilled in yet.
Maybe Capcom took a cue from Square Enix and the response to remaking Final Fantasy VII?
Resident Evil 2 was (and is!) an incredible game, and absolutely deserves a new look.
“It’s been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have pushed the project to get approved”, H says.
The Resident Evil franchise is an extremely popular one that has spawned many titles, along with several movies, and at one point there was even a Resident Evil attraction hosted at Universal Studios.
In July, Capcom asked fans on Facebook for feedback regarding a potential remake, to which it naturally received overwhelming support.

Resident Evil 2 first launched 1998 on the original PlayStation, before it was later ported to PC and Nintendo 64.
