A burning motor home ignited a 500-acre wildfire in the San Jacinto Mountains of Southern California on Monday, blazing through dry brush just east of Anza and displacing nearby residents.

The Anza fire had consumed 500 acres by 5 p.m. local time, forcing road closures and evacuations.

The so-called Jerusalem Fire doubled in size overnight to scorch some 12,000 acres (4,856 hectares) north of Napa Valley wine country, said California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) spokesman Steve Swindle.

Cal Fire spokeswoman Olga Leitch said she had no information about the number of firefighters working the new blaze nor any count of the structures threatened.

The Forest Service said the blaze has consumed 2 square miles and posed no threat to any structures by Sunday morning.

That fire destroyed 43 homes, but all evacuations have been lifted.

No one has been injured in the Willow Fire that started Saturday.

McLean said the causes of the ongoing Rocky fire and the Jerusalem Fire remained under investigation and he declined to say whether officials consider either or both of the fires suspicious. It is partially contained.

The blaze near Anza started in the motor home and spread to vegetation Monday. Three firefighters have been taken to hospitals with minor accidents suffered whereas taking over the blaze.

Those affected by the fire can apply for assistance, and the committee will determine how to distribute the funds once the fire has been fully contained and all impacts can be assessed.

The fire, possibly sparked Saturday afternoon by lightning, has been called the Willow fire. Authorities say it has burned 11 houses nevertheless it was not recognized in the event that they have been broken or destroyed.
