Residents Evacuated Amid Flooding in Northern England
Thousands more people were preparing to flee their homes, with 24 severe flood warnings in place – meaning a danger to life – and more than 500 troops being deployed across the region to help with mass evacuations. The peak at Leeds Crown Point is expected around 23.00 tonight.

The latest floods come three weeks after another part of northern England, Cumbria, was badly hit by Storm Desmond. More than 6,000 homes in Greater Manchester and Lancashire were left without electricity due to damage by flood waters.
