Resource sites open for Flint residents amid water crisis
Flint has been dealing with water issues since April 2014, when the city began using the Flint River as its source.

The water resource sites will be open from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m. each day. Three liaison officers from the Federal Emergency Management Agency are in MI to assist with emergency efforts, and the White House says it is closely monitoring the situation, but Snyder has not yet asked for federal financial assistance. This was such an egregious human rights violation that the United Nations demanded the city restore water services, citing horror stories collected by United Nations staff about Detroit’s residents’ fears for the lives of their children in the face of uncertain water supplies. Snyder spokesman Dave Murray said Tuesday that under the law, Snyder could not declare a state of emergency until Genesee County did so. Digesting lead is a big issue because it can cause irreversible brain and developmental issues in children. On Thursday, the mayor of Flint revealed it could now cost as much as $1.5 billion to fix the city’s water infrastructure. However, the river’s corrosive waters stripped lead from the water system’s pipes, contaminating the drinking water. The city returned to Detroit water in October after testing detected increased lead levels in residential water supplies and in children’s blood.
“The people of Flint deserve to know the truth about how this happened and what Governor Snyder and other leaders knew about it. And they deserve a solution, fast”, Clinton said in a statement.
With chanting protesters demanding his resignation in the background, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder announced Monday that he plans to ask for federal aid to deal with the lead-poisoning crisis in Flint.
Pastor Jackson told Martin they’re still waiting and “there’s no boots on the ground or federal money available to help us”.
“This is a crisis”, Snyder said.
The goal is to raise enough funds to send at least one full semi load of water to Flint, Howell said.
“What the governor should do is become fully accountable to this problem and give us the finances that we need to rectify the problem”, Davis said.
The assessment would allow FEMA to determine just how extensive the damage is and what it would take to rectify the disaster. Weaver, a clinical psychologist elected a year ago largely on a promise to improve the water, praised Snyder for his emergency declaration, even as she cautioned that major commitments of time and money would be needed.
