Retailers offer sales to keep up with Amazon Prime Day

According to Phillip Dengler of BestBlackFriday.com, “Since Amazon claimed past year that Prime Day is “going to destroy Black Friday”, we made a decision to issue them a challenge”.

Prime Day kicked off in 10 countries across the world on Tuesday.

“Some customers are reporting difficulty with checkout”, Amazon said in a Tweet. The company took to Twitter to get ahead of the issue, but it wasn’t enough to deter negative reactions on social media and in the press. The nation’s top online retailer climbed its way to the top by undercutting the competition and selling products across a wide range of categories at prices that rivals simply couldn’t match.

But as some consumers griped a year ago after the inaugural Prime Day event, Amazon seems to be going for quantity over quality.

Amazon is offering thousands of deals for its second annual Prime Day.

Additionally, Amazon spokesperson Ana Rigby e-mailed Bloomberg and explained that the problem involved Lightning Deals, but it had been resolved.

Amazon is also slashing prices on its own products in the US, including the Fire tablet, Echo, Fire TV and Fire TV stick.Toys from Nerf, Barbie and Fisher-Price will be discounted up to 50%.

Debi Hyland, who works in IT in Henderson, Colorado, created an advance wishlist of the items she was interested in, so she could get notifications when they went on sale.

Fortunately, most of these shoes have at least an average rating of four stars, so they may be worth purchasing, even without the major discount. Wal-Mart has cut prices throughout the month on many products online.

Macy’s is also offering “Black Friday in July” sales. “Following last year’s record sales, we have dramatically increased the inventory behind many deals”.
