Retired Lt. Col. gives Purple Heart to Trump
On Monday, a New York Times report highlighted Donald Trump’s five draft deferments during the Vietnam War – including one for bad feet – yet one day later the Republican presidential candidate was receiving a Purple Heart from a us veteran who did actually serve.

The medal, awarded to military members wounded or killed during service, was given to Donald Trump, he said, by a veteran at Trump’s rally in Virginia.
Trump added: “I always wanted to get the Purple Heart”.
“I always wanted a Purple Heart”, Trump said.
Trump was impressed when the veteran assured him that the badge was real. “By the way, Donald Trump, I didn’t put my life on the line to defend our democracy so you could invite Russian Federation to interfere in it”.
Trump told the crowd that a man he met before the campaign rally had given him his Purple Heart, “That’s my real purple heart”. “But I tell you, it was such an honor”.
Trump then read the veteran’s name, “Lt. Col. Louis Dorfman” off of the badge, and brought him on stage to chants of “U-S-A!”
“Donald trump can not, can not be President of the United States”, she said. Trump said, according to Politico. To me, that was a very important thing to do. The last made him medically exempt from the draft, unlike 300,000 men who joined the military that year, the Times reported. He was old enough to have been drafted during the Vietnam War, but received five deferments.
Among those aghast over Trump’s comment and his acceptance of the Purple Heart?
“I said, man, that’s like, big stuff”, he said.
Trump also boasted that it was the real medal, although some reports suggested it was actually a replica.
This follows a feud between Trump and a Gold Star family of Muslim faith who spoke at the Democratic National Convention.
Most people believe Trump should give it back to the veteran.

“I’m just so upset at this lack of empathy, lack of common sense”, Khan told CNN host Anderson Cooper. Understandably, he has since received yet another round of backlash, particularly from veterans and Purple Heart recipients who clearly don’t support Trump for president.
