Former U.S. soccer star Lauren Holiday has been diagnosed with a brain tumour while pregnant. Once she gives birth in October, she’s expected to wait roughly six weeks before undergoing surgery on the tumor.

Instead, in some gross displays of misogyny and insensitivity, a number of publications have chosen to focus on “another” potential tragedy here: how Lauren’s illness will affect her husband’s – NBA point guard for the New Orleans Pelicans, Jrue Holiday – upcoming basketball season.
“The most important thing for Jrue to do right now is be with his wife and family”, Gentry said in a statement.
Lauren and Jrue shared a selfie earlier in the summer – see it below. She also played professionally in the NWSL, winning a championship with FC Kansas City in 2015.
Lauren Holiday won the 2015 World Cup with the US women’s national team and was also a two-time gold medalist. She drove the pace vehicle for the 2015 Brickyard 400 after helping the US win the Women’s World Cup, scoring a goal in the final. They eventually became a couple and married in July 2013.
Jrue Holiday says he hopes to return to the team as soon as possible, but in the meantime, he’s asked fans for prayers.
“We understand that Jrue will miss some games, and his teammates are prepared to step up in his absence”.

“My heart breaks for so many things, so I feel like as awesome of a lifestyle it is, it’s also a very selfish lifestyle”, she told NBC Sports. We can imagine her trek has already been a hard one, but between her strong faith in God and the undying support of her husband, family and surrounding loved ones, she is ready to tackle her toughest ordeal yet that lies ahead. “She’s already here. She’s already what’s helping me stay strong”.

He will be out for an indefinite amount of time to care for his family, and has complete blessing of the New Orleans Pelicans organization.
