Retired U.S. soccer star Abby Wambach is joining ESPN as an analyst and a contributor. She will also contribute to ESPN Films projects and reports on E:60 and Outside the Lines, according to the network.

Wambach, 35, retired from soccer in December after 15 years as the USWNT’s all-time leading goal scorer. “She will be an engaging voice that will be valuable across multiple ESPN platforms”.
ESPN says the deal announced with Wambach Wednesday is a multi-year deal.
Wambach scored 184 goals in 252 matches while playing on the national team. Among her first topics will be foreign players on the USA national team.
In her podcast, she will talk about a variety of topics, such as her controversial comments when she criticized US men’s soccer coach Jurgen Klinsmann for bringing in “a bunch of these foreign guys” in December. However, other than that – you and I share something not unique, but constitutionally earned, a birthright to defend this nation as an American.
Wambach said she’s willing to re-examine those comments.
Wambach appeared in four World Cups with the national team. On Friday, Feb. 26, Wambach served as a guest analyst on ESPN’s critically acclaimed coverage of the Federation Internationale de Football Association presidential election. She was recently arrested for driving under the influence and is contesting those charges.

Wambach starred for the University of Florida women’s soccer team from 1998-2001, setting the school and SEC records for most career goals (96).
