Retiring Kobe Bryant gives up on dream of an Olympic farewell

With a number of promising youngsters vying for a spot in the United States team, Bryant said, “I think it’s their time”.

I know Bryant isn’t and will never be as universally loved as Magic, but can’t he get one last outpouring of respect and appreciation from his elite peers and adoring fans across the country too?

Kobe Bryant no longer leaving the door open for playing in the 2016 Olympics, says he’d rather “support the players from afar”.

The Jazz’s defense likely had as much or more to do with those struggles than any “impatience” on the part of the Lakers, but once again the team’s head coach completely abdicated himself of responsibility for the team’s struggles and placed blame for the loss exclusively on the shoulders of his players. The Mamba has always had a sense of the moment and rarely disappoints, even in a down season like the one he’s having.

“I want to walk off the court that last time as Laker”, Kobe said.

Bryant also said that it’s important to him to try to play through nagging injuries, rather than “caving into that anxiety”. I thought he controlled the game early in the game on the offensive end….

Bryant is a showman and that’s exactly what the All-Star Game is: a show. Larry Nance, Jr. left in the first quarter with a sore right knee….

“We’ve got to get used to Rudy and Rudy’s got to continue to get used to just the tempo of the game and playing”.

The Jazz were without three injured players – power forward Derrick Favors (back), power forward Trevor Booker (concussion) and Alec Burks (ankle). Trey Burke scored 16 points. “His decision-making was very, very efficient”.

Said Clarkson: “I turned on the Disney channel for a little while”. “More so than the other crowds”.

Kobe Bryant fans were cheering loud in the beginning. In particular, the Lakers’ three straight years of eliminating the Jazz in the playoffs stabbed me in the heart each time. I could run at a high speed and play hard for the entire game. The Jazz signed forward JJ O’Brien of the Idaho Stampede to a 10-day contract…. Then, Bryant informed Barbosa he changed his mind.
