Revenant has Oscars in sights as it traps Globes
Numerous best Leonardo Dicaprio movies have made it to the most prestigious film awards of the world, but it was the “The Revenant” which won him one of his “Best Actor in a Drama” Golden Globe awards.

The award for Best Actress in the Drama category went to Brie Larson for the film “Room”. “It is time that we heard your voice and protected this planet for future generations”.
The 41-year-old DiCaprio won for best actor in a drama at the star-studded Globes ceremony on Sunday that also saw “The Revenant” win for best director and best motion picture drama.
“Carol”:The film came into the Golden Globes Sunday with more nominations than any other movie, but walked away empty-handed.
Swigging a beer as he hosted the ceremony for the third time, Ricky Gervais told Golden Globes winners: “Nobody else cares about that award as much as you do”. In terms of awards-season politics, however, the win at least lands Damon in the conversation for the Oscar, even though that may be a bit unwarranted. Steve Jobs screenwriter Aaron Sorkin took home the Golden Globe Award for the year’s best screenplay, and Kate Winslet earned a supporting actress award for her portrayal of Apple marketing exec Joanna Hoffman. He also introduced the first presenters Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill and questioned why there were in the Golden Globes when they have never won.
The real surprise was Amazon’s “Mozart in the Jungle” beating out awards heavyweights like “Veep” and “Transparent” to win the top comedy award. It didn’t stop there as the show’s Gael Garcia Bernal also won Best Actor in television series beating out Jeffrey Tambor, Patrick Stewart, Rob Lowe and Aziz Ansari. Some stars and films were snubbed, but being that winners of the Golden Globes are chosen by less than 100 foreign journalists while the Oscars are decided by some 7,000 members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, there are bound to be inconsistencies in the outcomes of the two award shows. Mr Robot, about a computer programmer and vigilante hacker, took home the prize for Best Drama Series.
Host of the night, British comedian, host and actor Ricky Gervais returned the platform with jokes that can only be described as crass, making one wonder why the Golden Globes insist on calling him back.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy, was awarded to Rachel Bloom in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
