‘Revenant’ leads Oscar nominations with 12

Another gritty tale of outback survival – Australian apocalypse hit Mad Mad: Fury Road – picked up 10 nominations to take it second place.

The Oscar nominees for supporting actress have been announced in Beverly Hills, California.

Jennifer Jason Leigh as a killer being transported to the hangman in “The Hateful Eight, received her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight”, as did Alicia Vikander, as the wife of an artist who undergoes gender reassignment surgery, in “The Danish Girl, and Rachel McAdams as an investigative reporter in “Spotlight”.

“Fury Road” will vie with “The Big Short”, “Bridge of Spies”, ” Brooklyn“, “The Martian”, “Room” and “Spotlight” for best picture, the highest honor in the film industry.

“When Marnie Was There”, “Anomalisa”, “Boy and the World” and “Shaun the Sheep Movie” are the other nominees for best animated feature film category.

The Oscar nominees for documentary feature are: “Amy”, “Cartel Land”, “What Happened, Miss Simone?”, “The Look of Silence”, and “Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom”.
