Revenge Of The Jedi Trailer Finally Released
Of course, George Lucas finally came to the decision to change the title to Return of the Jedi, feeling that “revenge” didn’t rightly capture the noble spirit of the Jedi. However, by the time Lucas had changed the title, thousands of “Revenge” teaser posters had already been distributed. At the time this trailer was released, the movie was still billed as Star Wars: Revenge of the Jedi, and slated for a Christmas 1983 release date; once trailers arrived here in the USA, the Academy says the movie had already been shifted to a May 1983 opening.

The long-forgotten teaser, recently dug out by The Academy of Motion Picture Art and Science, isn’t exactly eye-popping – using just an old fashioned text flying effect, coupled with dramatic music.

You’ll also notice that this teaser promises a Christmas 1983 release for the film.
The teaser is from the United Kingdom, and still bears the film’s original title, Revenge of the Jedi, which was changed once Lucas realized the fighting clergymen known as Jedi he thought up aren’t technically supposed to seek revenge.
We’ve seen teaser trailers for Revenge of the Jedi, the original title of the original Star Wars trilogy-maker before it was changed to Return of the Jedi, in the past. But the film ended up getting bumped up to a summer 1983 release just like the previous Star Wars films. It seems like Lucasfilm was considering a holiday release for Star Wars films even back then. Really, is there a more exciting movie score in existence? There are only snapshots of characters from the movie itself, basically making it a PowerPoint presentation about Return of the Jedi.
