Wakefield resident Joseph Parker pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges including assault and battery on a police officer.
Parker, who in his booking photo is shirtless and saluting the camera, was restrained at the work site with a stun gun and with the help of two passengers in his vehicle. Parker’s companions later said he struck the first officer for “no apparent reason”, according to the report. A Revere police officer told the Herald the lieutenant and Rosenthal, both in full uniform, were on detail as utility crews cleaned up equipment from a job when the suspect pulled up in a vehicle, got out and punched the lieutenant in the head, knocking him to the ground, where his head hit the pavement. “Once he was handcuffed and placed in a cruiser, he allegedly kicked the rear window until it cracked, removed his shoes, and wedged his feet through the grate surrounding the rear compartment in a bid to kick it out entirely”.
At this point, officers removed Parker from the cruiser again.

When he was read his Miranda rights, he recited them along with the officers. “I’m walking out that door”. He challenged police to fight, rushed toward an officer, and punched him in the face, the report said.
A Wakefield man was arraigned Tuesday after he allegedly attacked several police officers in Revere. Seemingly without warning, Parker assaulted three more cops, severely injuring one’s leg, and somehow managed to break a metal detector.
Authorities say a veteran Revere police lieutenant was knocked unconscious and four other city officers were assaulted by a man who was asked to slow down in a construction zone. Parker was finally handcuffed and secured in a cell.

Parker, who had just ended a seven to eight year prison sentence for cocaine trafficking, will return to court on September 15.
