Hardy joined Rice in the national spotlight for domestic abuse in 2014, but his actions since taking the field for the Cowboys have done little to change peoples’ opinions of him.

Rice, who was never able to get back onto the gridiron as no other NFL teams would have anything to do with him following his release from the Ravens, is now angling to work for the NFL as the league’s resident domestic violence expert, according to a recent report from ESPN. Rice has also been quite active in serving his community since he was cut by the Ravens. “Show it on and off the field”. Now, Rice is offering his advice to Hardy. Take in that uniform & use it for what it is value. “You don’t have to win another football game, you don’t need another dollar to go out and make a difference in other peoples’ lives”, according to The Post. One might think that Rice is just trying to fix his image, but Rice was extremely active in community service long before his incident in Atlantic City.

It would be interesting to see him have a chance to talk to Hardy, whether the words would serve any therapeutic goal, or simply provide a cautionary tale. Hardy’s talent bought him his opportunity with the Cowboys, but he was a short leash to start the season and has continued to provide the organization with reasons to question whether his signing was worth the risk.

The three-time Pro Bowl running back still wants to play and stopped short of saying he’s being blackballed by the NFL. He’s a wise man who realizes that football players are in a very unique position to make a difference in the world.
