Richard Linklater exits The Rosie Project, following Jennifer Lawrence

According to a report by Joblo, Jennifer Lawrence is now in early negotiation to star in the directors untitled indie film, and although any details on the mysterious Aronofsky project are scarce, the word is that Aronofsky is looking to kick off filming sometime in the spring. The reason behind her decision to quit the project has not been disclosed. Alas, her departure has meant that Linklater, who originally boarded the production for a chance to collaborate with the actress, follows suit out the exit door. Linklater wasn’t the first filmmaker tapped for the project as directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were also interested in helming the picture, but they’ve since drifted off into a galaxy far, far away.

Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber (500 Days of Summer) adapted the novel for the screen, which will still be produced by Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan.

Written by Graham Simison, the book tells the story of professor Don Tillman, a genetics expert on the Asperger’s scale who never seems to be able to land a second date.

“The Rosie Project” is not the only movie which the Oscar-winning actress has recently departed from.

Producing films is not the only thing which is keeping the “Hunger Game” actress busy lately.

As for the director, Aronofsky had been eyeing a handful of projects, including an untitled Evel Knievel biopic at Sony starring Channing Tatum, from which he has since moved on.
