Smart, at least according to Senior Bowl executive director Phil Savage, is expected to coach the Alabama defense through either the College Football Playoffs or a bowl game should it lose to Florida in this Saturday’s SEC Championship.
Smart, Alabama’s defensive coordinator, has been widely reported to be the next coach at Georgia.
“The strength coach has more contact with the players than any coach on your staff”, Donnan said. The University of Miami is hoping that Richt cannot only develop certain players to play at the next level, but to restore Miami to the powerhouse program that it was in the 1980’s and early-2000’s.
