‘Rick And Morty’s Justin Roiland Announces Squanchtendo VR

VR is still a motion sickness-induced vomit machine for a lot of people, which … probably makes Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland a flawless fit for the platform!

While the studio has yet to formally reveal any projects, it teased there will be “a ton of announcements” in the near future. He has already dipped his foot into the games industry by lending his voice to the free Steam game Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist and plus there’s that VR Rick and Morty game on the way too. In 10 years at Epic, Watson has put together an impressive profile, with work on games like Fortnite, Gears of War for PC, Bulletstorm, and Unreal Tournament 3.

Roiland has been toying around with VR for awhile.

Justin Roiland and Tanya Watson announced earlier today that they’re teaming up to create a new virtual reality game studio. In 2005, the creator told PCGamer that he’d filled three notebooks with VR game idea, said he’s trying to figure out how to allow players to talk to virtual reality NPCs in a way that feels natural and unrestrictive. According to the Squanchtendo “about” page, the medium made him feel he could contribute to a video game industry he’s been obsessed with since childhood. The Squanchtendo launch comes with a call to action to apply for their open positions, which you can do here.
