Rick Perry’s Iowa Chairman Steps Down
All but one staffer, who had to leave for financial reasons, agreed to work on a volunteer basis, and many Team Perry members took to social media to express their confidence that their candidate, supported by the millions of dollars raised by his Super PACs, would be able to turn this situation around.

The Iowa chairman for Rick Perry’s faltering Republican presidential bid said Monday that he is no longer part of the campaign, as Perry seeks to keep his longshot effort alive on limited funds.
Sam Clovis said Monday that he had stepped down as Perry’s state chairman. “It was fascinating. It’s like watching NASCAR”.
“Gov. Perry remains committed to competing in Iowa, as well as South Carolina and New Hampshire, and there are many people across the country who continue to work to elect Rick Perry as president”, said Perry spokeswoman Lucy Nashed.
“The governor is a remarkable man and I’ve been honored to be part of his campaign”, he explained.
Patraeus, the former Central Intelligence Agency director, was sentenced to two years of probation and given a $100,000 fine for giving his biographer – who he was having an extramarital affair with – classified material while she was working on her book.
Clovis also previously described Trump as a “major threat” to win the Republican primary. “You cannot swing a dead cat in Iowa and not hit a Trump person”.
“I’m a fighter pilot and I would fly his wing through the gates of hell”, Clovis said.
Despite troubles raising money and a crumbling campaign infrastructure, Perry plans to remain in the race for the GOP nomination. Asked whether he foresaw Perry making it to the caucuses, expected in early February, Clovis said, “I don’t know”. “It’s that proverbial chicken and the egg”.
