Rick Spielman: Shaun Hill can take us where we want to go

While the Vikings will have to play the season out with Shaun Hill (or someone else they acquire at some point) under center, Bridgewater will be diligently working his way back so he can lead the team next season.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater on Thursday vowed to return from the horrific knee injury that has left him facing at least one season on the sidelines.

The team announced that Bridgewater also dislocated his left knee and sustained other structural damage, though he has no nerve or arterial damage.

The team expects Bridgewater to make a full recovery, but that does not help the Vikings for the 2016 season.

“We’re not going to stick our heads in the sand, tuck our tail between our legs”, Zimmer said.

Peterson said it showed him a lot that Bridgewater would go to the practice facility just two days after the injury.

Cornerback Captain Munnerlyn was in a group of about seven players who went to the hospital where Bridgewater was taken by ambulance so they could visit their teammate. Everybody loves him. So it was disappointing for them and I didn’t think we were going to get much out of practice. “This is not like (Vikings running back) Adrian Peterson tearing an ACL and then six months later is leading the National Football League in rushing”. The ACL and knee were likely close to failing at anytime, and it just so happened that it was a non-contact injury, but what if it would have been a contact play, or worse yet, held on until the first time he was sacked in a game, maybe on September 11?

“Our No. 1 concern is the welfare for our players”, Zimmer said. He said Kaepernick remains one of his two best quarterbacks. Zimmer said when asked about Alexander’s performance.

“We’re gonna grieve today and be upset about it”, Zimmer told reporters later on. “We all feel bad if it is real significant for Teddy”. “You can question why me, or this, that or the other, but you still have the injury”.
