What might be a surprise is the cyclist has now also been charged.
The 57-year-old taxi driver was charged after running into the bike courier on Bay Street, south of Bloor.
Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook said Monday it all started with a verbal altercation after the cyclist allegedly made a left in front of the moving taxi.
On Sunday, police identified Baldeep Cheema, 31, of Brampton as the cyclist in the video.
In the video taken by a bystander, a cyclist is seen banging on the cab window moments before the taxi swerves and knocks the cyclist down.
Ali Farkhondehfall, 57, of Thornhill has been charged with risky operation of a motor vehicle and assault with a weapon.
A statement released by Toronto police Sunday afternoon, alleges the cyclist reached into the cab and assaulted the driver at one point during the incident.
Cheema is scheduled to appear in court on October 17.
Both men are scheduled to appear at Old City Hall court next month.
