Ridley Scott Confirms Noomi Rapace Won’t Be Returning For ‘Alien: Covenant’

Anyhow, Ridley Scott, in a separate interview with The Guardian, spoke about the challenges he faces while directing a film like Alien: Covenant.

While talking with the Daily Mail, Prometheus director Ridley Scott revealed that Noomi Rapace (who played Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in first film), will not reprise her role in Alien: Covenant.

Chatting with Baz Bamigboye, when asked if Rapace would be returning, Scott confirmed she wouldn’t be, adding, “We’re still casting the main roles”.

Scott previously confirmed that Rapace would appear in the prequel-sequel, but only in a cameo.

This differs from an officially released statement from 20th Century Fox that stated Rapace would be reprising her role of Elizabth Shaw alongside Michael Fassbender and newcomer Katherine Waterson. Filming is set to begin later this year in Australia.

It’s probably a fair bet that the story for “Alien: Covenant” just has place for no place for Elizabeth Shaw, and likely picks up many years after the events of “Prometheus”.

Alien: Covenant hits theaters on October 6, 2017, and it will have a “pretty hard R” rating.

Sounds like more trouble is afoot for Scott’s Alien: Covenant than meets the eye. Katerine Waterston will play the leader of a new team of explorers. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, risky world – whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
