Ridley Scott Explains Prometheus Sequel Title Alien: Paradise Lost
He wants to know how it got there, but also seems interested in taking the long way to his “back door”.

Scott says the next film will move the franchise closer to the original Alien, even including some connections to franchise lead Ripley.
The Martian director Ridley Scott is now in the midst of the obligatory press circuit for his anticipated new sci-fi film, but he hasn’t shied away from talking about some of his other high-profile projects in the works.
So not “Prometheus 2”, but perhaps the third or fourth film? The director himself confirmed not just one but two more sequels for this particular film. Scott has previously said that going back to the design of the classic H.R. Giger xenomorph didn’t excite him. Asked to expand on the reason for the title, The Martian helmer explained that while nothing in the movie itself has changed, it was a necessary adjustment due to what the film will explore. “I always saw the Alien as a type of biological warfare”, Screen Crush quotes Scott’s statement to FilmFutter.
The Prometheus story’s connection to Paradise Lost is obvious, of course, as Milton’s poem is all about the Biblical fall of man, telling the story of how Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden. “I always thought that that original ship, which I call the Croissant, was a battleship, holding these biomechanoid creatures that were all about destruction”.

But we’ve gotta wonder what this means for Neill Blomkamp’s planned Alien movie, which was supposed to carry on the torch for the Alien half of the Alien / Prometheus universe. With Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace reprising their roles though, production is expected to begin next year, so hopefully we’ll have our answers soon. It’s probably a savvy move from a marketing standpoint, since Alien is the more familiar and more beloved brand name.
