“Boldness is needed to address the issue head on, with a view to finding a final resolution”.

The separatist leadership in Srinagar on Monday dismissed Prime MInister Narendra Modi’s statement about finding a lasting solution to the Kashmir problem.

On talks with Pakistan, he said the present government as well as the previous ones were of the view that dialogue with the neighbor has to continue but the issues to be discussed will be decided by the Ministry of External Affairs. “Do not make political statements here. We will get ample time to play political games later”, he said.

Taking strong exception to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks over Balochistan and Gilgit-Biltistan, Pakistan’s Punjab Assembly today passed a resolution asking Nawaz Sharif government to raise the issue at global platforms including the United Nations (UN).

“Respect and adhere to the United Nations charter, especially resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir”.

The bench also asked Singh to file his response on the status report filed by the Center on prevailing ground situation in the Valley.

The Jammu and Kashmir high court is also hearing a similar plea on alleged excessive use of force against citizens by security personnel.

Asked about the statement made by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in Jammu on Sunday that stone-pelters were no “satyagrahis but aggressors”, Omar said, “I do not wish to say anything on this as the prime minister told us nothing like this”.

The Prime Minister’s latest remarks came at a meeting with opposition leaders from Kashmir, where street protests against last month’s killing of militant commander Burhan Wani by the security forces left 67 people dead.

Mehbooba said violence was no means to achieve anything.

“Well, first of all, we strongly support all efforts between India and Pakistan to – that can contribute to a more stable and prosperous region, and that includes meetings at any level between Indian and Pakistani officials”, Toner said. Due to the violent incidents, curfew was initially imposed in 10 districts out of 22 districts of the state.

More than 60 persons, including two policemen have been killed, and several thousand others have been injured in the clashes that began on July 9.
