Rihanna, Metallica set for Global Citizen Festival
The Global Citizen Festival, which kicks off a stacked fall for NY music festivals, is bringing the most star-studded lineup of artists in its five-year history. Fans can win tickets to Global Citizen Festival by taking various actions and earning points toward the drawing, with a new campaign every week.

The Global Citizen Festival is unique in that the great majority of tickets are given away for free.
Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who signed on for a 15-year stint as the event’s curator, joins Usher, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, Ellie Goulding and Yusuf/Cat Stevens among artists scheduled to make “special guest performances” during the fifth annual concert, which will simulcast live on MSNBC and YouTube.
Celebrity hosts include Chelsea Handler, Deborra-Lee & Hugh Jackman, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Salma Hayek Pinault and Seth Meyers. Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Major Lazer, Metallica, and Selena Gomez are the event’s big headliners.
“I couldn’t be more honored to participate in the Global Citizen Festival as it continues to help solve important issues around the world”, she said.
The festival will also put a focus on encouraging equal education for girls and refugee children – with literacy considered a key prerequisite in the fight against poverty.
