Starr is selling more than 1,300 items from his personal collection of artwork and heirlooms, including the first pressing of the Beatles’ “White Album”.

Each copy of the 1968 album initially came with its own serial number stamped on the cover, and the first four copies of the White Album belonged to each of the four Beatles.

As risky Minds notes, it’s accepted that copies one to four are in the possession of Beatles’ members, with it previously assumed John Lennon had No. 0000001.

Starr’s copy will be sold by Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills on December 3-5.

Auctioneers say the album is expected to go for anywhere between $40,000 (£26,535) and $60,000 (£39,815).

In 2009, an original pressing marked No 0000005 sold on eBay for over $30,000 (£19,000).

Other items, which together take up 55 pages of the auction house’s website, include a Roy Lichtenstein painting, expected to fetch up to $25,000, and the suit Starr wore in the 1964 film A Hard Day’s Night, expected to fetch up to $20,000.
