Rings trailer brings Samara back for more scares

It’s taken over a decade for the trilogy-capper to make its way to screens but Rings is finally getting a release in October, and the first trailer and poster for the film has landed online. The 2005 follow-up, The Ring Two, brought Ringu director Hideo Nakata to the director’s chair but was a major creative step down from Verbinski’s smart and nimble first effort.

Paramount has been developing a new Ring movie for some time now, and this third iteration has Before the Fall helmer F. Javier Guttierez in the director’s chair.

A new chapter in the beloved RING horror franchise.

Rings stars Matilda Lutz as a young woman whose boyfriend becomes disturbingly obsessed with the subculture that’s sprung up around the killer videotape that’s become the centre of The Ring franchise; the one that is said to kill the watcher seven days later.

Never ones to be outdone Rings is the latest in the U.S. series and a first trailer has surfaced, with enough call backs to haul saga fans back into the loop. The cast includes Laura Wiggins, Aimee Teegarden, Johnny Galecki, Lizzie Brocheré, Alex Roe, Zach Roerig, and Bonnie Morgan as Samara. Opening an email attachment she really shouldn’t have, Julia ultimately sacrifices herself to save her beau, though, over the course of her last week on Earth, she discovers another mysterious “movie within the movie” no one else has ever seen before.
