Rio 2016 Day 6: Simone Biles chases history

Simone Biles isn’t letting go of her gold medal anytime soon. Gymnast Simone Biles Tweeted a picture of the moment. With the most gold medals in world gymnastics championship history checked off her list of accomplishments, the trailblazing gymnast’s success is anything but accidental.

The crowd erupted after her first tumbling passage. He added that he also gave her a St. Sebastian medal.

And at the Rio Olympic Arena, Biles showed why she is held in such high esteem by producing the day’s best vault, beam and floor routines, the latter of which brought the curtain down on a majestic individual performance.

Douglas became the first African-American woman to win all-round gold at the 2012 Games in London – where she and Raisman became the first women gymnasts to win three gold medals in a single Olympic Games. “We had a lot of pressure coming in but I think we handled it pretty well”, said Raisman. But teammate Gabby Douglas, the defending Olympic all-around champion, will be on the sidelines.

The “Final Five” made sure to secure their hard-earned gold as they dissolved into joking hysterics when a fire alarm went off in Team USA’s practice gym in Rio de Janeiro.

The U.S. women’s Gymnastic team took home the gold medal in team competition for the 2nd straight Olympics.

The 73-year-old Karolyi, who, with her husband, Bela, had a hand in gymnastics champions from Nadia Comaneci to Mary Lou Retton to Kerri Strug, has served as the USA women’s national team coordinator since 2000.
