Team Nigeria’s medal in the Games has increased to eight, following Latifat Tijani’s Silver, Roland Ezuruike’s Gold, Paul Kehinde’s Gold, and Oyema Esther’s Silver in their respective events.
Braving the odds in Rio, the country’s Paralympians have now amassed a total nine medals.
Great Britain won the gold, while New Zealand’s newest tandem pairing of Amanda Cameron and Hannah van Kampen finished fourth.
Chinese team tops the medal table of the Paralympics 2016 with 92 medals and the United Kingdom ranks the second with 56 medals. For India, given the treatment meted out to Olympic athletes/medal-winners vis-a-vis Paralympics ones, the answer is an unfortunate “yes”.
Omolayo on her part shattered her own World Record (WR) and set a new one of 138kg to win Nigeria’s sixth gold.
This has brought Ukraine to the third place both in the team event, and in the number of gold medals.
