Rio 2016: Russian swimmers Morozov and Lobintsev launch appeal against ban
Russian weightlifters will not be allowed to compete at the Olympics after the International Weightlifting Federation elected to ban them from the upcoming Games.

It is set to review decisions taken by global federations, in the wake of claims of state-backed doping.
Reedie had led calls for a blanket ban on Russian Federation over the doping.
The athlete, who provided evidence of doping in a series of documentaries by German broadcaster ARD, has fled Russian Federation and is living in hiding at an undisclosed location in the United States, fearing for her safety.
It appears more a fomality and a confirmation of decisions taken by the International Federations rather than a vehicle through which many will ultimately be rejected.
The CAS has announced that a hearing for the two (with no mention of the third swimmer, Daria Ustinova) will be the first of the temporary court set up in Rio de Janeiro for the goal of quickly reviewing disputes that arrive at the Olympic Games.
Both swimmers request CAS to declare the decision of the IOC Executive Board of 24 July 2016 (paragraph 2) invalid and unenforceable.
Aside from athletics, where all bar Florida-based Darya Klishina have been banned from competing at Rio, weightlifting is the only other sport to exclude all Russians after each individual governing body was asked to make a call on a sport-by-sport basis.
A spokesman for Rio’s fire department declined to comment.
The Australian team had previously complained about the state of the accommodation and made a decision to stay in nearby hotels “because the village is simply not safe or ready” Ms Chiller said.
Paes blamed the Rio2016 committee for a slew of problems at the village, which has been his public relations nightmare all week.
Australian team manager Kitty Chiller plans to meet with Olympic officials over the incident. “There has never been a clean Olympics and there is no reason to believe that Rio will be clean”, he told O Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper.
“The doors were left half-open”.
On Sunday, the AOC deemed Australia’s apartment tower uninhabitable and sent athletes arriving in Rio to alternative accommodation while issues with exposed wiring, leaking pipes and blocked toilets were resolved.
More than 600 plumbers have been working at the village this week to make repairs.

Speaking to Around the Rings at the Windsor Marapendi, the official International Olympic Committee hotel in Barra da Tujica, the head of the Rio 2016 organizing commitee looked and sounded relaxed with just six days to go to the opening ceremony.
