Brazil’s economic and political crisis has relegated Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic preparations to an afterthought.

Sport Minister George Hilton’s job has been under threat since his party, the Brazilian Republican Party (PRB), quit President Dilma Rousseff’s embattled coalition a week ago. Odebrecht itself continues to be oversee the delivery of many Olympic projects and other civil construction works.
It was not immediately clear if payments were legal or illicit, but the massive scope raises questions in a country where corruption is endemic.
“We’re constantly working on that and trying to understand it, and working with our Ministry of Health and messaging to our athletes when we need to, and updating that information, so that’s just an ongoing thing that we’re working on”, Waddell said.
Sprint super star Usain Bolt has announced his intention to call curtains on his Olympic career after the Rio Games in Brazil later this year.
“We had some logistical problems, such as unloading the wood into the venue and to install containers and offices, and we realised that it was too close for us to make sure that the track was perfectly installed”, Andrada said.
Hilton has had a marginal role in organizing the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, which open on August 5, and have been swamped with problems including severe budget cuts, water pollution and the mosquito-borne virus Zika.

The Olympic track cycling competition takes place from 11-16 August 2016 and is followed by the Paralympic competition from 8-11 September. “There is no concern, though, about games moving ahead and delivering whatever needs to be delivered for the games”.
