The important thing is that everything will be resolved before the Games, without disturbing the athletes’. It was not clear how many athletes were housed in the village on Sunday.

This is the latest problem for the troubled Games, which have been hit by the Zika virus, security threats, water pollution and severe budget cuts.
An advanced team from Australia which arrived in Rio on July 21 has however delayed moving into the Olympic Village. Such problems are not uncommon in Brazil where narrow pipes and poor plumbing mean residents throw toilet paper in bins rather than flush it away.
“You just sort of get on with it. We try not to waste our energy thinking about it too much”. We’ve got cleaning problems. Some Village apartments had water running down the walls and “a strong smell of gas”, while stairwells were unlit and floors were in need of a thorough clean, she said.
They have been living in nearby hotels citing blocked toilets and exposed wires in their flats at the village. She said she hopes they can move into the village quickly, and sounded encouraged. “It’s looking like, according to our plan, we will be able to move everybody in on Wednesday”.
She described other amenities in the village as among the best. Rio de Janeiro officials referred to “teething troubles” and promised that crews “will be working 24 hours a day until the issues are resolved”.
The Real Sports investigation into the International Olympic Committee airs Tuesday on HBO at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Rio organizing committee sent an emergency group of cleaners and fix staff to address the issues, but as of now offer no date when the problems would be fixed. He also said he was tempted to put “a kangaroo jumping outside” to make them happy.
The compound contains tennis courts, soccer fields and seven swimming pools, topped off by a massive dining-kitchen compound that’s as large as three football fields.
The 3600 apartments are to be sold after the Olympics with some prices reaching US$700,000 ($1m). The development cost about US$1.5 billion, and was built by Brazilian billionaire Carlos Carvalho.
“It’s obviously not great news”, he said.
“Our team has had to get stuck in to get the job done”, Waddell said.
