Samir Ait Said of the French team ended up with a badly broken leg on Saturday after landing badly during the Men’s Vault competition.
The athlete landed awkwardly on his left leg and immediately put his head in his hands in despair. A wheelchair was rolled out to the vault landing for him, but Said was eventually taken off on a stretcher as sympathetic fans cheered. “Men’s vault has increased in difficulty more than any other event, and gymnasts are taking extreme risks for a few extra tenths [for their scores]”.
Ait Said is a four-time European championships medalist on rings, including gold in 2013.
Former Corrie actor Ryan Thomas shares a throwback snap with his brother and Love Island star Scott Thomas – we can’t believe how young they look!
The fist day of the Rio Summer Olympics just got off to a REALLY tough start for a French gymnast.
