Korea rose to fifth with five gold medals in the overall medals tally at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil as of Thursday.

Michael Phelps returned for his fourth straight Olympics and added more gold to his unprecedented medal total, securing his title as the greatest Olympian in history.

Fourteen gold medals will be awarded Monday, including four more in swimming, where the USA has started strong.

It’s early days but Team GB have made an extremely promising start to the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Other sports awarding medals today are artistic gymnastics, diving, fencing, judo, rugby, shooting and weightlifting.

The Washington Post on Wednesday reported that leader Kim Jong-un is putting a lot of pressure on the athletes.

Rivalling Team GB will be the usual suspects of the United States, China and Australia, although Olympic heavyweights Russian Federation are likely to face their smallest return for some time due to the bans that have been imposed on a number of their athletes over anti-doping violation allegations. “For North Koreans, they’re worse”.
