It was announced earlier this month that Australia’s Olympic athletes will be given extra-protective condoms to guard them from Zika at Rio 2016.
Considering the safety of the athletes, organizer have started with the distribution of condoms of about 450,000 of which 100,000 are female condoms. The head honchos of this summer’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro will be handing out 450,000 prophylactics to the athletic specimens in attendance-enough, Quartz tells us, that each athlete could lay claim to 42 rubbers. There will also be 175,000 packets of lubricant supplied. Starpharma is in the process of rolling out its line of antiviral condoms internationally.
From Zika virus to low attendance, athletes participating in Rio Olympics 2016 may have a lot to complain about but it seems shortage of condoms is not going to be one of them.
The deadly virus is usually spread by mosquitoes, but it can also be transmitted sexually.
For the first time ever, the International Olympic Committee will be providing female condoms.

According to the statement, some scientists have suggested that the Games should be postponed due to the health risk, while the World Health Organisation has advised pregnant women not to attend the event. About 150,000 condoms were distributed in London.
