Rio Olympics: People are not happy about ads, delay in NBC coverage
Over at AdNews we have our favourite Olympic campaigns, but we want to know what you love the most.

NBC executives strongly believe in how they cover the Olympics, particularly the menu of sports offered on the network each night, and consider the events’ ratings strength is a public endorsement. Obsessive fans have plenty of viewing options, since every Olympic competition will be available live online along with the popular events airing in prime time on NBC. That means no late nights waiting to see if the United States nails the pommel horse. You’ll also have full access to scores, schedules and guides to understanding obscure events.
NBC will be streaming live, whether through a browser or through its NBC Sports app for set-top boxes and smartphones. BUT! You’ll need a video recorder such as TiVo to record events for later. And you absolutely won’t have to sign up for a cable TV subscription.
A spectacle of colour, glamour and pageantry is expected as South America celebrates hosting the Olympics for the first time, with a ceremony devised and directed by Fernando Meirelles, Andrucha Waddington and Daniela Thomas, marking Brazil’s diverse culture and past. Other coverage will be spread around CNBC, MSNBC and USA. Luckily, it’s a monthly service so you could also just pony up 20 bones and cancel after the Olympics are over. Here’s a complete guide to how NBC channels work with Sling TV (including details on discounts for current subscribers). Like Sling TV, Playstation Vue is available on most major devices. It’s not yet clear whether Vue will get the temporary soccer and basketball channels.
Put PS Vue and SlingTV together and you’re covered for the whole Olympics sans money.
With the internet once again champing at the bit to make a Costas eye joke, the network’s social media account beat everyone to the punch by posting its own eye joke as NBC took to the air.

Your phone won’t be able to serve as a complete replacement for the games, but it can be a helpful companion. It is renowned for its unsurpassed Olympic heritage, award-winning production, and ability to aggregate the largest audiences in USA television history. The lead NBC Olympics host had such a bad case of conjunctivitis that he was forced to take a few days off, leaving the internet plenty of time to make memes in his absence. YouTube also has an Olympics channel that’s probably worth a subscribe.
