Rio Paralympic: Onye Wins Gold In Women’s Shot Put f40 Final

The 30-year-old from Sutton Coldfield was a weapons technician working in Basra when he was caught in a rocket attack and had to have his left arm amputated as a result of his injuries.
The ex-serviceman was supported to Paralympics victory by a partnership between military charity Help for Heroes, British Cycling, the British Paralympic Association and UK Sport.
“There was no way I was going to come this far for silver”, Butterworth said. “These games, I’ve come in just wanting to do my best, enjoy them, and have fun”.
“I knew I had the potential, but actually doing it”.
Earlier today Emma Foy and Laura Thompson (sighted pilot) showed determination to win silver on the final day of racing at the Rio Velodrome at the Paralympics.
She won with a lift of 127 kg in the nine-athlete event. They were two of seven medals in the pool on Sunday.
Her second and third throws were 7.54m and 7.64m respectively.
