Rio police arrest Moroccan boxer on sex assault allegation

A Moroccan boxer was reportedly arrested for allegedly attempting sexual assault on two maids in the Village.

Hassan Saada was held by police over claims he attempted to sexually assault the women in the athletes’ accommodation at Barra de Tijuca, reports Mail Online. No other details were given.

He is to remain in jail for 15 days while police investigate the allegations, said Sky News. A light heavyweight boxer, he was set to fight Mehmet Nadir of Turkey in the preliminary rounds Saturday at 12:30 p.m. He was not predicted to be a medal contender.

Saada was taken to a police station near the Maracana Stadium, where the Olympic Games opening ceremony takes place on Friday evening, where he was stripped of his Olympic competitor status.

A judge granted a police request for Saada to be held in preventive detention for two weeks, it added. It is also claimed that he asked one of the women if she had a social media profile.
