Ripa’s unexplained absence came amid published reports that she felt blindsided and angered by Strahan’s departure to join “Good Morning America” fulltime.

Kelly Ripa reportedly took a “sick day” after her co-host, Michael Strahan, announced he was leaving the show – without her knowledge. He thanked fans and the show’s crew for being good to him, but didn’t mention Ripa.
“Kelly has been an unbelievable partner, and I am so thankful to her and the entire team”, Strahan told the New York Daily News in a statement on Tuesday.
“Kelly welcomed me here”, he said.
Roberts said Strahan would be on GMA tomorrow and will talk more about it.
The on-screen chemistry between Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on Live! has translated into great ratings for the ABC owned-and-operated stations.
In response – and in a form of protest against how she was treated – Ripa did not show up for work today.
Ana Gasteyer filled in for Ripa, who “had the day off”, according to a “Live!” rep. The former athlete wasn’t required to attend, but did out of “respect” for his on-air chum, an insider told The News. “I’m not going anywhere”.

Strahan acknowledged a possible controversy, admitting that he’s “been in the news lately”, but told the audience the move will not happen until September, said Deadline. “I’m always available to guest co-host because I consider myself to be a part of this family forever. Kelly, I thank you, I love you, and everyone else here at Live!”. “I was reading some of the stuff and it sounded like I died”, he said, laughing.
