Rivals rip Trump but promise support if he is the nominee

Romney said the other Republican candidates would be better alternatives to the billionaire businessman, whom he called “a phony, a fraud”.

That has GOP establishment figures gnashing their teeth over the prospect that it may soon be too late to stop Trump’s insurgent candidacy, and reviving talk of a brokered convention and an irreparably damaged Republican Party.

We have all heard endless jokes about his hair and tan, but what is the big deal now about Donald Trump’s hands? Yes, he did it.

Republican leaders and mainstream voters were watching Friday for signs that Thursday’s attacks on front-running presidential candidate Donald Trump, one of the most extraordinary days in party history, had blunted his campaign for the party’s nomination. “These were the hands that hit a golf ball 285”, the 69-year-old real estate mogul exclaimed.

Trump then referenced Rubio’s criticism of his hands, saying: “Look at these hands”.

The debate then quickly shifted from the issue at hand and into a list of accusations, although they were at least based in policy points.

“You know, Donald has a tenuous relationship with the truth”, Cruz said after Trump accused him of supporting the nomination of Chief Supreme Court Justice John Roberts.

“I’ve wanted to be involved in the campaign, if you will, as a bit of a referee”, Romney told Matt Lauer.

The Detroit debate was one more opportunity for Rubio and Cruz to try to slow Trump’s momentum.

Asked if he would support the Republican nominee if it’s not him, Trump said, “Yes I will”. Replied Rubio: “Well, he’s very flexible so you never know”. Cruz repeatedly depicted his fiercest rival as a fake conservative who supported Democrats like Jimmy Carter, John Kerry, Chuck Schumer financially for many years.

In an interview on NBC’s “Today” show, the Florida senator said he didn’t feel bad about introducing penis jokes into the presidential race. “You wrote her four checks”. Cruz has 231, Rubio 110 and Kasich 25. “He’s like 6’2, which is why I don’t understand why his hands are the size of someone who is 5’2”, Rubio said in Virginia on Sunday.
