Rivera says he’s ‘talked to’ Newton about taking down banner
“I was just shocked”, Dobs told The Fayetteville Observer.

Newton has been dropping dimes in recent weeks, including passes of 59, 52 and 39 yards in Sunday’s 37-29 win that boosted Carolina to 8-0.
Dobs said Newton ran over before the game, tore the banner down and took it with him to the locker room.
Former Auburn quarterback and 2010 Heisman Trophy victor Cam Newton was named the NFL Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time of his career on Wednesday.
“There’s a Green Bay banner in Bank of America Stadium”, Newton said. “I feel it’s my due diligence to protect this house”.
The Panthers quarterback saw the sign hanging over the railing, and ended up tearing it down.
Dobs said he didn’t ask for money from the team, only a replacement banner.
The Packers had just pulled within eight when Cam Newton made his only major mistake of the day and threw an interception deep in Panthers territory to Packers corner Damarious Randall. “I was passing, the sign was dangling…”, Newton continued.
“It’s no disrespect to nobody”. You’re not about sit up there and sell a Whopper at no McDonald’s.
Under Armour representatives everywhere couldn’t help but shriek with joy when Newton gave this response for ripping down the banner in the front row.
Dobs’ banner was approved by security before it was brought into the stadium and was deemed in compliance with rules.
“We’ve definitely got to get him going”, offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett said of Lacy.
At a news conference Monday, Panthers coach Ron Rivera referred to the incident as a “side story”. As he went to retrieve the ball, Green Bay linebacker and former Panther Julius Peppers kept the ball away from Newton, eventually throwing it to a ball boy near the sideline.
Dobs said he doesn’t have any ill feelings toward Newton. The banner cost $500, and was new, having just been purchased in January, he said. “And to refer to it as protecting his turf…like a gang, or to say we’re going to war…”, said Dobs.

“What kind of an idiot do you think you are, going to your home team’s f– stadium, with a stupid f– banner like that anyway”, one of the threats said.
