The Leicester City pair were at their best in the Foxes’ Champions League debut which resulted in a 3-0 win over Club Brugge in Belgium.

With the Belgian champion offering little resistance, it proved an easy night for Leicester, and a ideal respite from its Premier League troubles, where it has already lost twice in four games.

Albrighton wrote his name into the club’s history books when he capitalised on a defensive mix-up to break the deadlock.

“It was important to show a reaction after the Liverpool defeat”.

“Now we have to stay calm and put our mind to the next match on Saturday [at home to Burnley]”.

Rampant Leicester marked their Champions League debut in stunning style as they thrashed Club Brugge.

“If teams look at us and maybe think we’re a weaker team than what they could have got I don’t think that’ll be wise”.

‘The problem is if someone is thinking of the (Champions League) music, then I ring my bell.

And Leicester now boast a two-point advantage at the top of the group following Porto’s 1-1 draw with Copenhagen, with the Portuguese side their next opponents on September 27.

If he had missed, Ranieri joked, “I take the neck and crush the neck!” He was a lucky man.

Voted England’s player of the year for his role in Leicester’s remarkable Premier League title triumph last season, it was appropriate that the Algerian winger should be so central to their victory in this Group G clash.

“We’ve just played the first match; there’s another five to go”.

“Hopefully, we can pick something up at the weekend, carry this form into the league and do a good job there”. It’s hard to play against teams with very good experience.

The win was only Leicester’s second in six competitive games so far this season, and the second time they have kept a clean sheet.

Manager Michel Preud’homme said; “Football is simple, to win a game you have to score goals and not concede too much”.

“After two minutes we could have scored and the game was totally different”, lamented their coach Michel Preud homme.

It can not be overlooked, however, that Brugge have only won two of their first six matches of the new league season and lack the financial wherewithal to meaningfully compete at the elite-level of the European game.

The Clarets haven’t won away at Leicester since November 2007, in which a goal from Andy Gray was enough to seal all three points.
