“Delegates are the authority of the Republican Party”.

Despite the list of familiar politicos, the convention program is a reminder that the Republican Party remains deeply divided over Trump’s candidacy.

“Mr. White, president of the U.F.C.; Asa Hutchinson, the governor of Arkansas; Michael Mukasey, the former United States attorney general; Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, a vice-presidential possibility; Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the majority leader; Tiffany Trump; Donald Trump Jr. and Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin”.

Mara said the delegation members would be looking for guidance from Rubio and Kasich about which way to vote.

The New York-based artist has been planning this project since 2013-back when Donald Trump was little more than a hyper-rich businessman and reality-TV personality. If anti-Trump forces are to survive, they must find 28 votes on the 112-member panel – enough to pass a minority report that could recommend freeing delegates to vote for whomever they please.

“But as I said, Donald Trump has created this environment”. Nordstrom is the mayor of Galva, Ill., a town of about 3,000 people between Peoria and Moline, Ill.

“I asked and I said what’s involved and they said well you just get to vote, and I’m like okay, I can do that”. Some of those top-ranking Illinois Republicans have been vocal in saying they won’t endorse Trump.

CLEVELAND (AP) – Cleveland’s police chief said Wednesday that while he’d prefer that people not openly carry firearms during next week’s Republican National Convention in the city, state law allows for it and police will do everything possible to keep everyone safe.

Countering that, the renegade Republicans are setting up a high-tech messaging system to coordinate with organizers on the convention floor and plan to launch ads micro-targeted to the delegates’ social media pages.

Though they lost their amendment fights, Hoff pointed to fewer anti-LGBT elements in the overall platform – it no longer calls for a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman, for instance – and favorable language on employment nondiscrimination. “We must obey by the rules”, she said. Although he’s quick to note he’s not excited about the prospects of sharing a room. McConnell, who will serve as a delegate for his home state of Kentucky, has been tepid in his support for Trump.

Sanford told Politico he’s not going to Cleveland.

“I’ll have to let Mr. Trump speak for himself”, he said.

“It was counterproductive”, Farage said of Obama’s comments.

FiveThirtyEight’s Nate Silver published an analysis last fall that explained, “The most conservative Republicans in the House 25 or 30 years ago would be among the most liberal members now”. Barasso says he has stated from the beginning “this was going to be a conservative platform, reflecting the views, and the values, and the vision of the Republican party, and I think we stayed true to that”.

If the effort survives, the free-the-delegates push could go before the entire convention next week for a vote. “I think it’s scary to some, and when you’re afraid, you repeat yourself”. Gowdy also said he has not attended Republican conventions in the past.

Priebus did not address the rebellion directly, but he said that that if the party remained divided, it would open the door to a victory by Democrat Hillary Clinton. Party leaders eager to forestall opponents can at times exercise that power to their benefit by ignoring delegates trying to lodge objections. Trump once said about McCain, a prisoner of war in Vietnam, “I like people who weren’t captured”.
