Later on Wednesday, the next contender, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, who has publicly announced that he is being vetted for the job, flew into Indianapolis, meeting with Trump at the Conrad Hotel. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) – one of Trump’s first supporters – was also flying to Indianapolis to meet with Trump.
Mr Trump is expected to announce his running mate on Friday, before they are confirmed at next week’s convention in Cleveland.

If Trump chooses another candidate, local political experts say that’s not necessarily bad for Pence.
