Roach: We’ll Beat Canelo but GGG Won’t Happen ‘Automatically’

What Roach and Cotto cannot ignore is that the victor will nearly certainly have to begin negotiations with dominant WBA/IBF champion and WBC mandatory, Gennady Golovkin, and after having previously been seen to show little desire for the fight, one could be forgiven for thinking Roach was again sitting on the fence regarding the Kazakh. Whether they actually do so is another question. “If all Golovkin can do is bring in 125,000 PPV buys for a fight against Lemieux, then it suggests that HBO is going to need to back off from putting him in PPV fights in the future unless he’s facing a big star that can pro him up like Cotto or Canelo”.

Meanwhile, the legend in the boxing ring and hall of famer Robert “Hands of Stone” Duran, also shared a few of his prediction for the upcoming Miguel Cotto vs Saul Alvarez fight.

Obviously, the WBC middleweight title will be cast off immediately after their fight in November.

“I don’t run from anybody”, Alvarez told FightHype while in camp getting ready for the Cotto fight. He is one of the top middleweights to agree to fight Gennady past year. “I don’t think he’s the most dedicated guy in the world and I think I have a guy that is dedicated, and by that I mean he’ll do anything to win”. “So if he wants to fight with me, let him come down to 155 and I’ll fight him whatever day he wants”. “But the WBC opinion is clear, the victor of the November 21 to face Golovkin”, Suliaman said. The two trainers have reached on a common ground and said “I think somewhere in the fight, he stops Cotto…Canelo’s just too sharp of a puncher…he’s too quick, he’s too strong right now for Cotto…” Duran then continued to say that “Miguel Cotto is no longer in his prime” and has concluded his prediction that he is “positive” that Canelo Alvarez will win the upcoming match.

“GGG” annihilated a current world champion in eight one-sided rounds to become a three-belt world title holder and is now widely regarded as one of the best two active fighters in the world, alongside Roman Gonzalez.

I think it would be a waste of time for Golovkin to agree to another step aside deal because I don’t see it worthwhile for him to keep stepping aside. Cotto and Canelo can make good money fighting weak opponents like Alfredo Angulo, James Kirkland and Daniel Geale.
