Rob Reiner: Trump ‘Insane,’ A Lot of His Supporters Are ‘Racist’
GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump has been garnering much press lately, from the good to the bad and ugly.

He later goes on to discuss the obvious way news and politics have become intertwined with show business, and that that’s to blame for the rise of Trump, who is, he says, coasting on his celebrity, a thing that shields him from being questioned in a way that a typical politician would be.
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough faced off with Rob Reiner on the 5 May 2016 edition of Morning Joe, after the liberal Hollywood producer/writer explained Donald Trump’s base of support by underlining that “there are a lot of people who are racist in this country”.
‘There’s racism in this country that has been submerged for a long, long time and all of the sudden there’s a man who’s speaking, ‘ Reiner said as the hosts babbled on.
Trump would have to show a different opinion on many topics that he has weighed in on, said Scarborough, and he must “do an incredible 180 somehow and change everything he said over the past year”, if he wants to win over minority voters.
“He’s unearthed a lot of it!”
“The words that have been flung out from [Trump’s] mouth are insane”, Reiner said.
‘There are those who are following Bernie Sanders who feel the same way, ‘ Reiner, a Hillary Clinton supporter, said.
‘No, do you see any racist people at Bernie rallies?’ Reiner replied.
Ultimately, after several minutes of back and forth regarding Trump’s supporters during which co-host Mark Halperin refuses to make eye contact with anyone, seemingly fixated on something fascinating happening on the floor, Reiner concludes, “they’re not all racists, but there’s a strain there”. “Do you see any skinheads?”
Geist replied, “But they’re not all racists”.
