An Arizona man has died after being shot by police and barricading himself in a senior center.

Lt. Michael Pooley of the Tempe Police Department said officers responded to an armed robbery call at the Walgreens near McClintock and Rural roads just after 9 a.m.
Pooley said that’s when “some kind of scuffle” occurred.
Pooley says the man who was shot matched the description of the robbery suspect, who was after pharmaceuticals.
They say he was briefly barricaded in a storage area of Westchester Senior Living, an assisted-living facility with about 160 residents. It’s not clear if the SWAT officers also fired at the suspect.
At least some of the residents of the senior center were evacuated during the incident and none were injured. A nearby school was reportedly put on lockdown.
The suspect was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound and later reported dead.
“Our officer is OK”, Pooley said.
Hilerio had removed the semi-automatic’s magazine but didn’t know there was still a cartridge in the chamber, police said.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office located and attempted to stop a suspect vehicle in the town of Guadalupe, but it fled from deputies, Pooley said.
