According to the WCSC Channel 5, police say 19-year-old Joshua Jermaine Davis of North Charleston entered the Waffle House restaurant on Dorchester Road shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday morning and pulled a gun on the staff, demanding money. They arrived to find “the suspect had been shot”.

Kenneth Rivers, 39, of Desmond Avenue in North Charleston, was sitting outside the restaurant in his Ford Crown Victoria when he saw the restaurant being robbed and a few of the employees running out the front door, according to the report. Waffle House employees told police that an armed customer had stopped the robbery.
At the time of the confrontation, Rivers was on the phone with his brother, who later traveled to the shooting scene, the report stated.
“No one was hurt, which is the best part”, Waffle House division manager Brandon Rogers said.
Johnson said police are not pressing any charges against the customer at this time. “No one was injured-besides the suspect”.
The suspect was taken to Medical University Hospital in critical condition, and no other injuries were reported. “He saved us, that’s what he did”, said one employee. The policeman said he was not authorized to speak for the North Charleston Police Department.

North Charleston Police Department Lieutenant Angela Johnson said the matter was still being investigated.
